Great School Governors can bring a wealth of personal and professional experience to the table, but it is still important that they understand the role of a School Governor, the key issues facing Governors and how they can be most effective in addressing these issues. This requires effective training – and great examples.

In developing Modern Governor, we’ve worked closely with experienced School Governors and industry organisations to deliver e-learning modules which act as both a useful introduction to governorship and professional development tools for more experienced Governors.

About Learning Pool
Learning Pool was set up by the Improvement and Development Agency in 2002 to support and promote the use of e-learning in local government. Learning Pool became independent of the IDeA in 2006 and today we provide services to over 300 public sector bodies in the UK making us the leading provider of e-learning services to this market.

In addition to Modern Governor we also provide an e-learning service for council officers and Elected Members (called Modern Councillor). We also provide an online Learning Management System so that councils can evidence learning activity (all our courses are SCORM compliant).
